8 DIY face masks using Dark Chocolate and its benefits on skin

Susarithas

Yumm…..!!! Chocolate. There were days when  I was going crazy for chocolates Well..I still am crazy for chocolates but I prefer dark chocolates these days. Did you know consuming dark chocolate everyday will reduce aging?

Dark chocolates are made of 70 – 90% cocoa with reduced sugar and milk content. Hence there are less calories in the chocolate. Research says that eating dark chocolate everyday purifies blood and also protects us from Cancer.

At first, eating dark chocolate tasted like coffee but I got used to it eventually due to its benefits for health and skin. Consuming dark chocolates regularly say 1 piece a day will make your skin glow.

And now I use dark chocolates in my face masks and soaps because it is rich in anti-oxidant properties, anti-inflammatory properties. So usage of chocolate protects skin from sun damage and other skin problems.

So I would like to share with you all some of my favourite DIY face mask receipes. My advice is to use dark chcolates that has 70% and above cocoa but if you do not have that handy, you can always use cocoa powder like Hershey’s

How to Melt the chocolate to make a Face Mask?

There are three methods to melt the chocolate.

Method 1: Stove top

  • Bring half a pot of boiling water enough to cover another heatproof bowl. In another heatproof bowl add the chocolate pieces.
  • The chocolate will start melting by the steam produced by the boiling water.
  • When you have just a few un-melted chunks, remove bowl from the heat.

Method 2: Microwave

Add the chocolate pieces in microwave safe bowl. Each microwave is different. My microwave needs only 10 secs to melt the peices but your may vary so I would say start out with 10 secs and increase gradually by 5 secs. Too much heating in the microwave will make the chocolate hard and it will not be easy to use or the face mask.

Method 3: Sun

This is my favorite method. Simply keep a bowl with chocolate pieces under the sun. Wait for it to melt and use it for the mask. But this method is only possible during sunny days/ summer.
